Sisterhood
Amy Sams Sisterhood President
Sisterhood is an integral part of Keneseth Israel. Being a member of Sisterhood can be an enriching and rewarding experience. We urge all our women to join and acquaint or reacquaint yourself with us.
Through the summers of 2008, 2009, and again this year, we partnered with Cleveland Elementary School in Allentown to provide school supplies for students and classrooms. The school is in an economically distressed part of the city, and many students do not have the basic tools needed to learn. Norm Sarachek spearheaded the collection effort, and as a result of his hard work, we accumulated a huge collection of backpacks, folders, pencils, erasers, paper, and craft supplies to benefit the 330 students at the school. The congregation was extremely generous in their support. The school supplies are delivered to the school at the end of the summer, prior to the arrival of the students. Norm and other KI volunteers have really shown how a few individuals can make a huge difference for some needy kids in our own backyard!
